Happy Thanksgiving!

Over the years, Vassil and I have been blessed in so many ways. We've been fortunate to find jobs we love (well, at least Vassil has ;), a beautiful house to call home, a sweet, yet at times psychotic pup, Bella... and the opportunity to live in two very beautiful, yet different parts of the States, and to travel to places ranging from Hawaii to Bulgaria. Above all, we've been blessed with good health, a few good friends, a loving family, and so many wonderful memories!! WOW!

This year, however, we have so much MORE to be thankful for. Elizabeth has brought us so much joy, happiness, and fulfillment and we are so incredibly blessed to have her as our daughter! Her smile, her cry, her little temper... the way she still falls asleep in the crook of your neck, how she often fake-coughs to get your attention, the way she squeals with delight in the mornings upon seeing her parents, and how scrunches her nose when she laughs, her focus and determination to grab at her toys (she'll do it one of these days), the way she always falls asleep after eating but wakes just enough to give a big thank-you smile and then goes back to sleep, her beautiful almond eyes that seem to communicate her every thought and feeling... in short, we are SO richly blessed!

A catch-phrase comes to mind when thinking of all the things we have to be grateful for this year... it seems to be on every bumper sticker in suburbia. And despite the fact that Vassil and I often make fun of the people who paste this message to their cars, their t-shirts, their baseball hats (as though they are entitled to it)... I have to admit, that in this moment... this moment while I type a blog, and my husband watches tv, and my daughter takes a nap, and my dog sleeps at my feet (wagging her tail no less)... "Life is good!" Life it truly, truly good!

To celebrate this year, we wish we could be with the rest of our family and we wish we could be there to hug "Nana" and to wish her a happy birthday in person... to enjoy the feast that great-grandma is no doubt cooking as we speak... to listen as people argue politics, to catch up with my cousins, to watch football, shoot hoops, catch a movie.

Instead, we will celebrate at home, with our own little family. Later we will enjoy a yummy meal with the Tabet family. And we will reflect on how much we have to be thankful for this year!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! We hope life for you is also good!
