Day at the Zoo

With Vassil feeling better, we decided to take a trip to the zoo on Saturday. It was a beautiful day--hurricane "Earl" missed us, but brought much needed cooler temps and a reprieve from the crazy humidity! Anyway, with daddy having the week off to recover from his surgery--he decided it would be better to get out of the house (especially w/the nice weather) and suggested the zoo!

Anyway, here are some pics...
As always, it was lots of fun!
Above: Daddy and Liam checking out one of the exhibits, crocodiles I think. This is another new quasi-word for Liam. Only it usually comes out "Coco," which sounds really similar to Caca, his work for Cockadoodledoo. Lol! He's still ahead verbally... but we are waiting patiently for the "verbal explosion" to hit! I can't wait--I SO want to know what he's thinking about and to have little conversations with him! Maybe in the next few months? We'll see. There's no rush, though! I know boys (especially sweet introspective little guys) tend to take a little longer and that's okay, too!
Here's daddy pointing out the giraffes. Liam was giggling and laughing when he saw them! Love his joy!
Here we are all packed in the double stroller checking out the bee exhibit.
And the Queen Bee herself ;)
It was around this spot that a family with three slightly older (slightly rowdy) children passed us by. The father pointed to our kids (who were, for once, sitting quietly in the stroller) and said: "Hey, why can't you guys be good like those kids?" Let's just say... that made.my.day. And is perhaps the first (and possibly last) time our kids got complimented on good behavior by random strangers. In case you haven't been following this blog... my kids are great at lots of things... but sitting still and being quiet in public are not one of them! Lol!
Next stop, the playground. It is a whimsical giant garden, with large plants, flowers, and insects to climb and play on--lots of fun!
Liam on the giant squash.

Next stop...
the polar exhibits!

Polar bears, arctic foxes, sea lions, puffins--it's a fun place to explore!
Daddy, Elizabeth, and Liam watching the Sea Lions swim by.
I wonder what Liam was thinking--he was so serious and curious the whole time!
After lunch, daddy bought us tickets to ride the Carousel. So much fun! Elizabeth had a blast as always.

And Liam did, too! This was Liam's first time--he LOVED it, and said "weeeeee!" the whole time we were going around!
Then it was time for some ice cream cones

"Mmmmmmmmm!" This is another one of Liam's favorite things to say. He says with SO much intensity when it is REALLY good that it cracks me up! Lol!
Before you get too excited by this next pic, no Liam is not walking yet. BUT, he can walk just holding one hand these days--so that's progress! I sure hope it is soon.
Anyway, all in all it was a fun day--and I think it helped daddy to get out of the house some.
Hopefully in the next week, he'll be back to new!
