Conversations with Elizabeth

Elizabeth has definitely hit that language boom I've read about. She has become quite the little mimic, repeating almost everything we say pretty close in accuracy most of the time... and she has also starting combining words and having little conversations with us. It is simply too adorable! I was amazed at the childrens museum when she repeated the word "elevator" clear as day, and then said "door closed." And my heart just melts every time I hear her call for her baby saying "Baby Lulu, Where-are-you?"

Yesterday was also particularly funny. As we were watching the inaugural address, every time Obama would say something to make the crowd cheer, Elizabeth would stop what she was doing and say "Obama.... YAAAAAAY!" and clap like crazy. And when we told her that he was now President Obama... she then started staying "Present-a-dent Bama, YAY!" Funnier still was when she'd accidentally say "O-mama! Yay!" or even "Mama, Yay!" It was very cute!

Here are some other conversations we've had recently...

E: Bert, Bert [insert jibber-jabber here] Ernie

Me: Did you see Bert and Ernie on Sesame Street today?

E: Bert, Bert [lots more jibber]

Me: [pretending to know what she said] Oh... really? I can't believe Bert did that! What else did he do?

E: Bert! Jumping!

Me: Bert was jumping?!

E: Jumping, Jumping, Jumping! Bert Jumping!

Me: Wow! Bert was jumping up and down! Yay!

E: Bert! Jumping! Stairs! [more jibber]

Me: Really? Bert was jumping down the stairs?

E: Happy! Happy!

Me: He was happy?

E: Bert! Jumping! Stairs! Happy! Jumping! [lots of giggling!]

Me: Wow... Bert was jumping down the stairs and he was happy?! That's amazing!

[This conversation continued much like that for another 15 minutes or so and the funniest part was that I watched Sesame Street with her that morning and I don't remember anything about Bert jumping--LOL!]

Here's another one from this morning...

E: Nana!

Me: No, that's the phone. Can you say phone?

E: Sone.

Me: PH-one! Can you say PH-one?

E: Sone. [picking up the phone] Light.

Me: There's a light? I don't see a light.

E: Light [jibber] Red light. Red light. All gone light.

Me: The light is all gone?

E: [putting the phone back; red light comes back on] Right dare!

Me: OH... there IS a red light!

And here's one we get quite often:

E: Poop! Diaper!

Me: You have poop in your diaper?

E: Poop! [pointing to her diaper]

Me: Is it time to change?

E: Nooooooo [using her funny "no" voice]

Me: No? But I thought you pooped? Did you go poop?

E: NO! [Using her mad "no" voice... and running away from mom]
