Vassil and I have recently made the decision to sell our home. This decision has come after nearly six months of very serious thought and prayer, and over a year of toying with the idea. We aren't exactly sure where we plan to move, or if we will even be able to move with the market the way it is. But nevertheless, we've decided to make a go of it.
Let me start by saying that we absolutely love our home itself. It is our first home, the home where Vassil carried me across the threshold, where we built a 6' privacy fence with our own two hands, where we brought home our then puppy Bella, and above all the place where we started our family. So it is somewhat bittersweet to have made a decision to move.
There are several other factors, however, with which we are not so pleased. The main problem lies in the fact that we live on one of the main community roads in our subdivision. Didn't really bother us when we bought our house, but now that Elizabeth is here, we've suddenly become much more aware and bothered by the traffic. Funny how parenthood totally changes your priorities. Not to mention the fact that our mailbox and trashcan have taken more than their fair share of hit and runs.
Likewise, a few months back we discovered a bag of trash missing from the outdoor bin (by coincidence we needed something from the bag, but couldn't find it). A few days later someone had used information from our trash to make purchases in Canada. Thankfully our credit card company caught it right away. And since we've become quite shredder-happy. Still, this is the type of neighborhood we live in... one in which our garbage (and identity) gets stolen! Yet another reason we'd like to move.
Just today, we also found our opened electric bill blowing on the wind in a neighbor's yard a few doors down. Again, rather disturbing to think that either someone took our bill out of our mailbox, or that someone received it by mistake and didn't have the courtesy to return it to us. Again, not something that makes us real happy about our current living situation.
To top it off, we've had a string of not so pleasant neighbors occupying the rental house next door. The current woman, who is in the process of moving in, is absolutely the worst of them all. Not only has she left her music blaring from her car around midnight, waking up Elizabeth, while she bangs pots and pans around in an attempt to get unpacked... And not only did she leave her old ceiling fans and other garbage on the front lawn for nearly a week... But believe it or not she actually came to our home and told us she was going to call the police if our dog continued to bark. To which, we respectfully said we would bring her inside and didn't realize she had been barking... so sorry. But added that we couldn't stop her from barking all the time, because she is a dog after all, and that's kinda what dogs do. To which she explained that if she heard her bark again she would call the police because our town ordinance prohibits dogs from barking as it is a nuisance.
WHAT?!
As a result, we ask that you pray for this stressful situation. That we would be able to sell our home, and that we would be able to find a home that will make all of us more comfortable and at peace. A place where my child can play without her parents worrying about constant traffic; a place where neighbors treat each other... well, neighborly; a place where our dog can bark without fear of the police showing up to take her away; and in short, a place where we will be more happy!
We will keep you posted on any developments, and greatly appreciate your prayers in this matter!
