CHEERS for CHAIRS!

This week has been all about chairs...

For starters, there is the new addition of the "The Bumbo." Since Elizabeth isn't quite ready to sit on her own just yet, we help her practice by putting her in one of these bumbo chairs. It works GREAT! And YES I know that these chairs have been recalled... but I hereby promise not to put her in it in any place other than the floor and to stay right by her while she practices sitting (I guess the recall was due to people putting the bumbos on tables and babies falling out). And while I sit SAFELY nearby, Elizabeth has a great time practicing her sitting skills.

The second came in the form of the highchair! Mommy was very excited to have picked up a very nice, albiet gently used Graco from a consignment sale. And after a thorough cleaning and disinfecting of the highchair, Elizabeth got her first test drive. Her little head barely peeks above the tray table top, but she really seems to love her new vantage point nonetheless! Likewise, with the recommendation from the doctor, we have started Elizabeth on solid foods. The term "solid" is a bit deceiving; actually, all she's getting right now is some rice cereal mixed with formula, which seems more a liquid to me (but I'm no chemist). She's loving it, though. And when we aren't feeding her, but are feeding ourselves, she is very fascinated with watching us: what we are eating, what we are drinking, how we are chewing, etc. She even pretends to chew when nothing is in her mouth (thus causing her mother a great deal of panic, in fear that something is in that mouth of hers). We had hoped the cereal would help hold down her crazy spit up, but so far, not much change (puddles everywhere). Likewise, we thought a little before bedtime would help her sleep better at night, but really no change there, either. Really the only thing that has changed since beginning solid foods are really, really stinky diapers. Maybe we should have waited until she was closer to 6 months...oh well ;)

Yes, this week our little goldielocks (or should I say chestnut-locks) has had a great time testing out chairs of all kinds! And so far, they all seem "just right!"

P.S. Thanks Great-Aunt Teri for the adorable Classic Pooh outfit in the top photo... she got to wear her pink furry coat, with matching onesie/pants/and booties to church today!
