Hiccup!

For the past month and a half, Baby E. has had a terrible case of the hiccups! Only now that Baby E. is much bigger, the hiccups feel much stronger. They usually come on around the same time of the day, usually 3+ times per day. It doesn't bother mama too much, except for the fact she can't do anything to help comfort baby.

Here is what the baby book said on hiccups: "Hiccups in your baby are just a fetal reflex that is remarkably similar to our own. Only the more mature fetuses will hiccup, as hiccups rely on the development of the central nervous system. Some experts think that hiccups in utero is a response to fetal drinking or fetal breathing, which causes the flow of amniotic fluid in and out of the lungs, stimulating the diaphragm to contract."

WOW! Who would have thought that something as simple as a hiccup could be so amazing! God has definitely knit each one of us together in such an amazing and complex manner! Who could doubt there is a creator when you take time to examine these intricacies?!
