Can it be...?!

Today I am 10 months old!
Let' see, at 10 mouths, there's lots of new things going on with Liam.

For starters, at long last... we have TEETH! Yes, plural. Right before turning 10 months, his two bottom teeth popped through!

Let's see, at 10 months he's around 20 pounds and is officially in the big boy carseat--he seems to LOVE the new view. It is still rear facing (until 2 years), but the bigger seat gives him more space and a better vantage point.

He is eating more and more table foods... but his favorite continues to be yogurt (a Bulgarian favorite!)

He has learned to go from tummy to sitting (previously he could only go from sitting to tummy).

He can stand holding on to his table or toy wall, but still needs help getting to a standing position. He can hold on and stand for a long time now!

He is working on building his leg muscles needed for standing and pulling up! Still not crawling. He can pivot all around and he gets up on all fours, only to go backwards most times, or to just roll to where he wants to go. He has the tendency to refuse to plant his left foot on the ground, and at our last appt, the doctor said she wanted us to go in for a sonogram in a few weeks to check his hip for possible dislocation from birth, which might be causing the problems (esp. of the one leg not wanting to bear weight). But because his leg symmetry is good and doesn't indicate dislocation, she wanted us to wait another few weeks to see if we see any sort of progress. We are hoping that our little guy is just going at his own pace, which is what we suspect. But we ask for your prayers just in case! I keep telling Liam he needs to get moving so his mommy will stop worrying! Lol! "Do it for me!" I keep telling him! ;)

Let's see, at 10 months, he has started dancing to music! I will post some video of that soon!

He rolls and kicks balls--they are his favorite thing to play with these days!

He LOVES to play pattycake and to clap every time anyone says "yaaaay!" He will also clap to the song If You're Happy and you Know It, and he continues to wave hello and goodbye when he hears those words. He also loves to point and tell us about things--especially balls (his favorite thing!)

Which brings me to my next point... his latest verbal focus is on the word "Ball!" That's pretty much all we hear all day long for the past three weeks. It started one night when daddy was playing soccer outside with Elizabeth. I told him to hold Liam and pretend to let him score a goal. He did, and we all cheered "Gooooaaaaaal!!!" Now, every time he sees a ball or the soccer goal, he instantly starts saying "ball, ball, ball, ball..." over and over again. Occassionally, we also hear "Ball, ball, ball... go, go, go (goal)!" Most of the time he points right to the ball while saying it. Other times, he must just be practicing saying the word, because we hear it ALL the time even when there aren't balls around. Often, it gets started because he sees the ball outside from the window (either from his highchair or if I'm holding him) and if I dare open the door... well, you know what will come out of his mouth! I LOVE it!!!
Liam also understands SO much these days. If you ask him where something or someone is, he'll look right at it. "Where's the light? Where's Bella? Where's the fan?" He'll look right at it and sometimes even point!  Or if you say things like "Give Mama some cracker! Or Give Mama a kiss!" He'll do it!

Liam has also in the past 3 weeks or so starting having little temper tantrums if he is unhappy about something. Like if sister takes away one of his toys, or if mommy puts him in his carseat but he doesn't want to go, or if he wants to go outside and play with the ball but you bring him back in... he arches his back and kicks and kicks and kicks and kicks. I've gotta say, it's kinda cute... for now.

Overall, though, he continues to be a sweet heart. He is very bashful to strangers. If someone at the grocery store or church says hello, he will just turn away and smile and smile in this really bashful way. It's precious. He continues to love to be cuddled and loves his mommy. And he loves to smile. His smile, like his sisters, well, it just melts me!

Hard to believe how fast 10 months have flown by. Especially with this laid back little guy! And I just can't wait to see what the next few months have in store for us as we near his first birthday! Can't help but feel so emotional about my little guy growing up. Wish both my sweet little guy and my precious baby girl could stay my babies forever. But, such is life. Better hold on while I can!
