Elizabeth learned a very important lesson last night. That lesson: never give up!Never give up... even when it seems everyone is against you. Never give up even when everyone thinks you'll never make it. Never give up, even when people constantly underestimate your greatness. Never give up, even if it takes you twenty years or more. Never give up, even if you are living in the shadow of the past. Never give up, even if you are up against people who play dirty and will do anything to knock you down. Never give up, even when you make silly mistakes. Never give up... even when there's 2.1 seconds left and you are down by 3.... NEVER GIVE UP!!!
Okay, well Elizabeth didn't exactly learn this lesson herself... in fact she slept through the entire championship game... but she will no doubt hear about that game for years to come!!! The game where "Super Mario" made history, brought KU a National Championship after exactly 20 years, and brought needed closure to KU fans. Our team played with class (which I can't say for the other team), our coach The Great Bill Self was a graceful and humble winner (even acknowledging past coaches and players for the win), and icing on the cake was our former coach, Roy Williams, there in the stands, with a giant Jayhawk on his chest! In that one magical moment, something much greater than a National Title was won!
And not only did Elizabeth (who was sleeping) and her parents learn an important lesson in perserverance and hope... but funny enough we also learned a very unique talent.... how to scream at the top of our lungs without making a single sound!!!!
