What's in a Name?

For those of you curious about our baby's name, let me explain.

We chose Elizabeth to honor my mother. Although she actually goes by her middle name, Ann, I couldn't think of anyone else I'd rather have my daughter named after. Hopefully our daughter will take, not only my mother's first name name, but also her sweet, loving, sacrificial nature as well.

Her middle name, Atanaska, is also a family name... in honor of Vassil's late great-grandmother. Like my mom, she was also an amazing woman that everyone in the village and family looked up to, and for whom Vassil has many fond memories. Again, we hope our daughter takes these traits with her, along with the name.

As for her nickname... we had planned on shortening Elizabeth and mainly calling her Eliza. However, now that she is here, she must seem more like an Elizabeth to us, because that is mainly what we call her.

At any rate, that's the background on our baby and her precious name. So to answer the question, "What's in a name?" in the case of our baby, quite a lot!
